AFTERCARE
Wash your lashes
Keeping your lashes clean is by far the most important aftercare instruction to follow, yet it’s the one that most clients for get the most! Washing ensures that your lashes remain clean and free of debris, product residue, and natural oils. Also, neglecting cleaning can lead to lash mites! After washing, brush through them with a spoolie and air dry or use the cool setting on your blow dryer.
*If you have any make up residue or build up in your lashes at your appointment you will be charged a $10 cleaning fee and it can cut into your lash time, so be sure to show up make-up free and with clean lashes!
*I sell a hypoallergenic foam cleanser specially formulated for eyelash extensions at my salon suite.
Avoid oil around lashes
Avoid ALL oil based products. This includes waterproof make up, cleansers, moisturizers, fake tan and even foundation! Be sure to check out the ingredients of product you put around your eyes, as some can lead to retention issues with your lashes.
Avoid rubbing/touching lashes
Many people tend to rub their eyes without even thinking about it. But be careful as this can cause premature fallout of your extensions. You’ll want to avoid touching in general, your hands carry tons of bacteria throughout the day and contain natural oils and even some added on by lotions. All of which you want to keep far away from your lashes as these can break down the bond of the adhesive.
Avoid sleeping on lashes
If you are a side or stomach sleeper be mindful of keeping your lashes from pressing into your pillow next time you go to bed. I know and acknowledge that once most people fall asleep tossing and turning is inevitable, if you can avoid it great! If not there are sleeping masks made for people with extensions that have enough room in the eye pockets for them to be unbothered while you sleep. Also invest is a satin or silk pillow case- they are much more gentle on your lashes, skin and hair than a standard cotton pillowcase.
Avoid extreme heat
The thin wispy tips of the extension are very sensitive to heat and will singe and melt together! Be careful next time you open the oven, put your head over a boiling pot of water, go into a sauna, light a candle, light a cigarette, blow dry hair, etc. .
Keeping up with fills
It is imperative that you keep up with your fill appointments every 2-3 weeks. As your natural lashes grow and fallout in your regular lash cycle your extensions might start to lean, twist/turn. Which can be uncomfortable and unsightly. Coming back for your fills allows me to attach extensions on to your newly grown lashes, remove the grown out ones and replace them with a fresh extension. Also it maintains the look of the beautiful first set you walked away with initially.
*If you can count your lashes by the time of your fill appointment that is not considered a fill and you will need to book a full set. A fill is having 60% of your previous appointments’ lashes. If you have less at the time of your appointment and did not book a full set you will be up-charged for the additional product/time used to get you back to being full again. Or if there is not enough time to elongate your original appointment I will do what I can during the appointment time but you may not be as full as you would like to be.
Need them removed?
If for any reason you no longer wish to have extensions they need to be professionally removed. It only takes about 30 minutes, I’ll apply a gel remover, let it sit while it dissolves the bond of the adhesive and they will slide right of leaving your lashes intact and undamaged!
